How many pets can the feeder recognize?
The feeder uses AI facial recognition to identify up to 15 pets, making it easy to manage feeding in multi-pet households.
Can this feeder be used for wet food?
The feeder is suitable for dry food ONLY, with kibble sizes under 0.47in (12mm) in diameter and freeze-dried food under 0.35in (9mm).
How often should I set my automatic cat feeder?
For adult cats, schedule 2 to 4 meals a day, while kittens typically need 3 to 5 meals, spaced evenly throughout the day. The ideal frequency depends on your cat’s age, weight, and activity level, but generally, offering smaller, more frequent meals is best, as it mimics their natural eating habits. Adults often do well with two meals (morning and evening), whereas kittens benefit from more frequent feedings to support healthy growth.
Can the feeder run on battery power without the power plug?
To prevent sudden power outages from affecting your pet’s feeding, avoid relying on batteries as the feeder’s only power source. Batteries are intended for emergency backup use only. When the feeder is powered solely by batteries, the camera will automatically turn off to extend the working time, while scheduled meals will be delivered normally.
Will it still dispense food when it goes offline?
Yes. The feeder will still dispense food according to the feeding schedule you set up.
Will it still dispense food when there is a power outage?
Yes! It supports battery mode. After installing four D batteries, the feeder will still dispense food according to the feeding schedule you set up in case of a power outage. Please note that the backup batteries need to be purchased separately.
Can this feeder work for dogs?
It is more suitable for cats and small-breed dogs.
Is it possible for pets to shake the feeder to access more food?
The feeder’s enclosed design prevents accidental dispensing when shaken, and the pet-proof lock on the lid can prevent your pet from opening it. It dispenses food following your preset feeding schedule or can be manually dispensed by pressing the Feed button.
How do I introduce my pet to the new feeder?
Place the new feeder where your pet currently eats, ensure it's not scheduled for feeding yet, let your pet explore for a day or two, add a bit of their food for familiarity, place treats nearby for positive associations, and press the Feed button while your pet is present to introduce them to the feeder’s sounds.

This product is really interesting. It records the activities of my cute cat. We all like it, but it is a pity that it cannot be recorded on the whole family's mobile phones. It seems that only one mobile phone can be used.
At the same time, cat doesn’t like eating stale food. Sometimes she eats less, not as much as manual feeding each time.

We had a different automatic feeder for a couple of years and it stopped working. So the time came for a new one. We like to surprise the kitties with snacks while we're at work or away. The duel hopper is great, we have food on one side and snacks on the other. Tha camera is so much better than our previous feeder. And I love the metal bowl, plastic bowls are just bad. It freed up space on my phone as well. The other feeder had its own app, but this feeder shares the same app as our litter box. So far a very positive experience.

A friend recommended this and I can’t say enough wonderful things. Easy to set up and once you get to know your way in the app, you will love it. I love that it allows you to put in the type of food you are giving your pet bc it will then tell you how much they should be getting based on current food/weight/age/breed. My cat no longer has food aggression as having a set schedule and proper amounts keeps him happy and healthy. I also love that it has a camera to easily check when he is eating and how much. Worth every penny.

This is an outstanding product that does exactly what it says it does. I buy 4 lb bags of cat food and the Dual-hopper holds all of it with no issues. It uses a pouch of desiccant on the top which keeps the food moisture free and fresh.
My cat had an issue where when I put her food down in the morning, I would have to watch her eat as she would go nuts and overeat. 5 minutes later she is getting sick on the floor somewhere.
Now I set up this product, and assign small feedplans of 1 serving of one side, then 4 to 6 hours later, it serves another one from the other side.
She has access to a small amount of food throughout the day and night, and she has taught herself to eat a bit and move on she knows she can come back, and it is still there.
A great product, and one I am very happy I bought.

Honestly, this device is perfect for me. Back up battery operated, the lid and food bucket is all very secured down, the camera is very clear and easy to access. I work extended hours so it’s nice knowing I can check in.
The added feature of highlights/playback is kind of cool but I don’t intend to use it unless I’m going to be gone on vacation.
And I do not regret! This is one of the greatest inventions in my life. Due to my work I could not properly feed my girls in time. With this device, now I can see when they eat, how they eat and how much they eat. Automated feeding is the blessing! For now, I have only 2 proposals: 1. I could not set recommended feeding in Automated Feeding feature. It would be great if the app allowed me to do that. Also, it would be great to set more than 1 pet food type (so I can set more than 1 flavor of the same food). 2. The app UI is too difficult, I could not underst What I can and what I cannot do.
Also, it would be great if you have some sort of tutorials for owners of 2 cats.
This product has saved me so much time.! Although the cleaning can take quite a while. Its for sure worth it. However if we could link all PETKIT cameras I’m home to PETKIT care plus account/membership. Instead of having to purchase multiple.

I’m loving my PETKIT unit, the quality is very nice and modern. All the parts are well fitted with the design of the feeder - the dispenser doesn’t build residue as my previous unit did. Another amazing feature is the app! It truly goes above and beyond with its features. I’m really happy with my purchase and have already purchased the accompanying water fountain to go with the feeder.
He’s still getting used to it, but he goes in every once in a while and then he gets a reward but it’s easy as hard to clean and it just makes things better I’m still trying out the litter. I will see if he likes that but so far so good thank you.
I like it a lot! Improvements include the camera, the tilted stainless steel bowl, and the dual hopper for freeze dried food. It doesn’t clog the hopper inside like the last model I used, and it dispenses an appropriate portion size. The things I don’t like are how it doesn’t display the quantity of food being distributed. The last model I used distributed small portions of food throughout the day to equal a total of the 2/5 of a cup I feed my cat every day. There is no option to select 1/20 for a meal time for example, just “1 portion”. My cat has problems with eating too fast, so these small portions minimize the chance she will barf on my floor. You don’t know how much that is however unless you really look for it (9g from hopper 2, 3g from hopper 1). The app could use a more user friendly upgrade, but my impression of this feeder is overall positive.
